A Few Of Our Featured Brands
May 2025 Issue Highlights

1
Paromita Banerjee
The first collection in 2009, when we were working with a single cluster in Bengal , we were getting ready
for our first Lakme Fashion Week collection. A shy demure Paromita, would source thaans on handspun
handwoven khadi, and design the collection on it. It was minimal but aesthetically strong. The work of a
small group of weavers would come to the focus, when they saw their collection on the national stage of
the Lakme Fashion Week ramp. It encouraged them so much that they spoke about it to their entire
village. It was truly a local to global phenomenon for them. Glo-cal.
2
Prakāra
Contemporary practitioners extend stone-weaving analogies into fashion and architecture. Couturiers reinterpret
temple moldings as sculptural silhouettes in double ikat silks, and urban architects implement perforated façades that control light and airflow with temple-based lattice algorithms. Virtual reality projects now interrogate temple tessellations as dynamic textiles, inviting analysis of pattern recurrence and modular repetition that link digital
design methodologies to ancestral handcraft. Certain processes may have evolved but the symbiotic exchange of
creative inspiration between temple architecture and textiles continues in the digital age.
3
Kotranic
The Kotranic collection offers an assured, thoughtful range. Handcrafted patchwork co-ord sets, breathable double-gauze cotton shirts, refined kimonos, and jackets with a quiet strength speak to an audience that values both heritage and individuality. Limited-edition prints and hand-done finishes lend every piece a distinct character, with each garment shaped by technique and intent. This sense of
uniqueness is the true luxury that Kotranic offers.
Kotranic’s pieces belong to those who seek depth in their choices, whether worn in the considered spaces
of an artist’s studio, an intimate salon gathering, or a cosmopolitan street.
