From The Editor : Kriti Magazine Launch Edition

As we prepare to publish the 3rd edition of Kriti Magazine, I thought of sharing the Editorial Letters from the previous ones. Hope you like them!

Kriti Magazine

The first magazine I wanted to publish was named Reverie. It was going to be about Indian crafts, music and cuisine. A few close friends with diverse skills and interests kindly agreed to collaborate. Somehow, the idea of that magazine became more about what we miss about India while living abroad, than what we wanted to create as an experience for our readers.

The subsequent years of the pandemic allowed all of us to reflect on how our lives are changing. Outer space was colliding with satellite debris and my wardrobe was filling up with fast-fashioned-clothes. My profession and aspiration both started to converge

on the idea of building a more sustainable Universe. Finally in 2023, my mother and I began launching trial editions of the magazine under the banner of Sustain-A-Verse. The articles were on sustainable fashion, along with features of unique fashion brands that are balancing creativity with their responsibilities towards the planet and the humans they work with. We started collecting feedback from our readers and thankfully, they adored the stories on textiles, culture and the brand features.

We therefore, are delighted to present Kriti - a digital magazine to revive Indian textiles and highlight the pioneers that are spearheading the movement towards a more responsible future in fashion. India offers the perfect blend of a rich cultural heritage and a young society rooted in innovation. We hope Kriti serves as your launchpad to preserve the skills of artisanship that Indians have protected for centuries.
