In the Bhoi dialect, Kiniho means “these are the ones”. It is a phrase that asks us to pay attention to what has always been right in front of us. Such an idea has been developed by a brand from Meghalaya.

They have been making waves in the world of conscious fashion quietly. They answer to the question, “What if the clothes you wore could carry the whispers of a village and the rhythm of generations?”

Imagine a woman who walked away from years of working in the corporate world only to return to her roots. From playing with scraps of fabric in her childhood to now blending the heritage with modern design, she has come a long way. Not only that, this brand showcases tradition with innovation and on top of that, sustainability with soul, aligning with the pulse of our Handloom Edit.

But this is not just about textiles. It’s also about a way of life. About women who weave dignity with fabric. About colours drawn from the Earth and skies. About a philosophy of living that feels both timeless and urgent for our times.

This story is a window into the beautiful world of Kiniho and Iba Mallai, now available in the Handloom Edition of Kriti Magazine.
